The Life-Changing Magic of Writing A Book
The Life-Changing Magic of Writing A Book
Well, it’s been a hot minute since the book came out, and all the buzz has quieted down a bit.
But everyone once in a while, I’ll run into a friend or colleague, and they’ll ask me, “How’s the book doing?”
Which I have come to learn is code for, “Have you sold a lot of books?”
And my answer always surprises people.
“The success in publishing a book is more than just the book sales.”
Let me explain.
Writing a book is a life-changing experience, and book sales are only one metric to measure success.
Writing a book has opened doors of opportunity I didn’t think were possible.
Speaking engagements: I was a panelist at the MetroWest Conference for Women BEFORE the book was published.
Podcasts: I’m regularly sought out to appear on podcasts to discuss writing in general and the self-publishing process in particular. You can listen to a sampling of them here.
In short, I’m viewed as an expert (which, hello? I am — I’ve been writing in some capacity for over 30 years), which is a great ego boost.
But wait; there’s more.
Since my book was published, I’ve:
Edited a book on sleep, which, in case you’re new here, you can read more about here).
Worked as a writing coach to help a video production expert develop a program for her business (in case you missed it, you can read about it here.).
Finally, I’m in negotiations with some authors to help them write books in the health & wellness and technology spheres.
Bigger Projects = Bigger $$.
Now I didn’t set out to write a book with the intention of growing my writing business, but that’s what happened.
So imagine what could happen to YOU, a business owner with a book idea that RELATES to your business?
Well, here’s one way to find out:
Consider working with me one-to-one in my Book Idea Incubator writing program, where aspiring writers find the time, space, and inspiration to move their writing forward.
