I love surprises
I love surprises. Some of my favorite moments with my children revolve around surprising them.
Big surprises like when their cousins visited from Ireland, and we met them at the bus stop.
Small surprises count, too, like little gifts and trinkets I’d bring them home from a business trip.
I loved to see the look on their faces — eyes wide, mouths agape — coupled with shouts of glee and jumps of joy.
My kids are adults now and living their own lives, so surprises for them are few and far between. But I’ve found a new source of surprises: writing coaching.
Yes, writing can be full of surprises too.
Take Marcie Giannattasio, who I had the pleasure of working with last fall in a 12-week custom writing coaching program.
Marcie is the founder of WeBo Media and Consulting, a video production company. Marcie and her team have been producing award-winning videos for over three decades, and Marcie has a thing or two to share about how business owners can master the medium.
Marcie came in, caffeinated, motivated, and ready to write a book designed to inspire camera-shy content creators to embrace video marketing in their business and teach them how to make videos on their own.
“From shy to shining” was the goal.
We began with brainstorming Marcie’s vision, downloading her ideas from her head to the page.
Within a few weeks, Marcie had written several chapters.
Then things got interesting.
We discovered that Marcie didn’t have a book. She had a course.
SURPRISE!
I’ll let Marcie take over telling the story from here.
“Through Judi’s kind yet persistent questions about how a reader would remain engaged in the book to completion, I came to the realization that what was missing in the book WAS ME!
We weren’t speaking to readers; we were speaking to people who needed to get comfortable in front of the camera in order to gain confidence and create more video content.”
I thought for sure this meant Judi was out, and our writing coaching was over. NOT THE CASE! Judi jumped right in and helped me pivot my message and create a program that brings the results clients crave!”
That program, Mighty Simple on Camera — the camera-shy entrepreneur’s 6-week program to getting comfortable on camera — is now open for enrollment on a rolling basis.
You can learn more about Marcie and the program at her website, www.mightysimple.com.
