The Difference A Year Makes
For someone who often praises the virtues of email marketing, you might be surprised to learn that I only started taking it seriously for my own business a year ago.
Yes, it's true.
I didn’t start emailing out of the blue, though. I had been sending emails about once a month to my list, but sometimes that month stretched into six weeks or [cough] two months.
When I realized I was explaining the same things repeatedly verbally, it finally dawned on me that if I turned that talky-talk into written words, I could save myself some time and energy.
Oh, and make money in the process.
So, this time last year, I committed to emailing my list weekly. Although I strive to maintain a monthly theme, I prioritize sharing my thoughts on writing as they naturally come to me. But without fail, there's a new email in your inbox every Tuesday morning, dagnabbit!
And there are many benefits to being consistent, my friends. Here are a few:
Building Trust: Regular emails are like showing up to a party everyone knows you’ll attend—it builds trust. My audience now expects my musings, and it’s even made my referral partners like me more.
Increased Engagement: Consistent communication keeps the audience engaged and curious. It’s like tossing a pebble into a pond—suddenly, everyone’s talking. Those email replies often inspire my next newsletter.
Improved Sales: Staying top-of-mind means your audience thinks of you first when they need something. I’ve had people email me saying, “I’ve been meaning to talk about a project, so let’s do it before I forget again!”
Enhanced Brand Recognition: Frequent emails reinforce your brand. I’ve been introduced as “Judi Harrington, the queen of amazing newsletters,” more times than I can count.
Better Metrics: Regular emails are like a treasure trove of data. I saw my readers were obsessed with website copywriting, so I leaned into it—and voilà, nearly ten websites were done this year!
So, if you've been on the fence about ramping up your email game, take it from me—consistency is key. Start with a manageable schedule, stick to it, and watch the magic happen.
