Embrace the Summer Heat with Acupuncture’s Cooling Touch

At last, at last, summer is here at last! Our reward for trudging through the winds of winter and a cold, rainy spring, summer is the season of energy, growth, and movement.

In the same way the sun energizes the world around us, acupuncture can invigorate the mind and body and inspire you to embrace the joy and vitality of the summer months.

Whether you're planning a beach vacation, organizing outdoor adventures, or simply savoring lazy afternoons, acupuncture is your trusted companion to ensure you make the most of this radiant season.

Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate! Tips for staying cool in the summer heat.

Keeping hydrated in the summer is very important. In the same way the plants in your summer garden require water to flourish and blossom, your body needs hydration to function optimally. Proper hydration is the secret elixir that fuels your energy, enhances your vitality, and perfectly harmonizes your body's systems.

As the saying goes, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Keep the following strategies in mind this summer to quench your body’s thirst and avoid dehydration symptoms such as fatigue, headache, and dizziness:

  • Listen to Your Body's Signals: Your body is a wise messenger, and thirst is the body's way of reminding you to hydrate. When you feel that gentle tug, honor it by sipping water and replenishing your internal reservoirs promptly.

  • Sip, Don’t Chug: While it’s tempting to guzzle from an ever-present water bottle, your body is better served by sipping water throughout the day. Adding a teaspoon of salt should do the trick if water isn't quite quenching your thirst.

  • Infuse Your Water with Nature's Delights: Water doesn't have to be plain and boring! Add a burst of flavor by infusing it with lemon or lime, or swipe a page from Polina’s playbook and add Goji berries to your water and give yourself a nutrient boost at the same time! Goji berries are rich in nutrients like iron, vitamin A, and vitamin C. Try adding a ¼ cup of them into a glass of water to sip and enjoy a tantalizing treat throughout the day.

AcuBoston also creates custom herbal supplements based on your particular seasonal triggers and symptoms. Contact Polina at 1-617-860-2039 or schedule a free telemedicine consult to learn more.

From Needles to Nirvana: Exploring the Wonders of Scalp Acupuncture

Polina recently attended the acupuncture extravaganza that is the TCM Congress in Germany. Sure, she came back with some trinkets and baubles, but she also has a gift to share with all AcuBoston patients: the art of scalp acupuncture.

Scalp acupuncture is another example of an acupuncture microsystem, where a focused area of the body reflects or maps out to the entire body. By treating these microsystems, practitioners can effectively address health issues without needing to treat the whole body.

Targeting specific acupressure points on the scalp can help with recovery across various types of symptoms, including:

  • Chronic Pain: Whether dealing with migraines, back pain, arthritis, or fibromyalgia, scalp acupuncture can offer relief by stimulating the release of endorphins, your body's natural painkillers.

  • Emotional Well-being: Scalp acupuncture can help rebalance the energies disrupted by anxiety, depression, and stress and promote a sense of calm, clarity, and emotional well-being.

  • Neurological Disorders: If you or a loved one are struggling with conditions like stroke, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer’s, or peripheral neuropathy, scalp acupuncture may provide significant relief by activating the neurological pathways that encourage nerve regeneration.

If you’d like to try scalp acupuncture, contact Polina at 1-617-860-2039 or schedule a free telemedicine consult to learn more.

Tai Chi/ Qi Gong is still going on!

Wednesdays 10 am-11 am

Fridays, starting June 16th: 10 am-11 am

AcuBoston - Dedham

In case you missed it in our last newsletter, Tony is leading Tai Chi/Qi Gong classes at the Dedham location. And he’s added another day to the mix! Starting June 16th, he’ll be leading class on Fridays as well as Wednesdays!

If you’re looking for an inspiring way to mix up your exercise routine, there’s no better time to explore the self-healing, meditation, and self-cultivation exercises of Tai Chi and Qi Gong.

Tai Chi is a body movement practice involving slow, gentle movements, physical postures, a meditative state of mind, and controlled breathing. The breathing piece embodies the practice of Qi Gong, whereby movement and mind ignite our inner energy (“Qi”) to create outer results.

Tai Chi and Qi Gong are adaptable for nearly all fitness levels, do not require equipment, and will leave you feeling more energetic, with increased clarity and focus, and ready to take on the world!

Classes meet each Wednesday and Friday from 10 am until 11 am.  Drop in as you’d like, on your own, or with a friend!

Class fees: $15 per class; $10 for current AcuBoston clients
